STAVANGER, Norway, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Norwegian energy company Statoil announced that its Hammerfest liquefied natural gas plant was back in service following a mid-November power failure.
"Hammerfest LNG is back in normal production after the temporary closure of the plant following a power failure on Monday, Nov. 19," Statoil said in a statement.
"Interference to the power system, which arose during maintenance work on the plant's battery-based reserve power supply, led to the plant's own power and that from the grid being switched off."
In January, the company reported that a water line tied to a fire control system ruptured at its liquefied natural gas plant in Melkoya near Hammerfest, leading to a controlled production shut down at the plant.
In July, the Hammerfest LNG project stopped production when ice formed on a cooling unit.
Statoil's share in production from the facility represents about 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The facility receives natural gas from the Snohvit field in the Norwegian waters of the Barents Sea.
