STAVANGER, Norway, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Production at the Hammerfest liquefied natural gas project is slowly returning to full production following a mid-July shutdown, a Norwegian company stated.
Statoil announced last month its Hammerfest LNG project stopped production when ice formed on a cooling unit.
"The liquefied natural gas plant was started up again at the end of July/beginning of August and is gradually being returned to full production," the company said in a statement.
Statoil's share in production from the facility represents about 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
In January, the company reported that a water line tied to a fire control system ruptured at its LNG plant in Melkoya near Hammerfest, leading to a controlled production shut down at the plant.
The facility receives natural gas from the Snohvit field in Norway and production there was halted briefly in response to the January incident.
A July labor strike in Norway briefly halted about 15 percent of the oil production and 7 percent of the natural gas output on the country's continental shelf.
