LONDON, April 11 (UPI) -- The tenure for embattled executive Tony Hayward on the board of Anglo-Russian venture TNK-BP may be limited, sources tell The Telegraph newspaper.

Hayward joined the board at TNK-BP after a corporate reshuffling in October brought Bob Dudley to the top position of BP following the Deepwater Horizon accident in the Gulf of Mexico. Hayward led BP during the response to one of the worst offshore oil spills in the history of the industry.

Dudley in 2008 was run out his leadership position at TNK-BP over spats with the Russian members of the board.

Carl-Henric Svanberg, TNK-BP's top executive, is considering replacing Hayward as soon as possible because the former BP chief is growing increasingly distant and disillusioned, The Telegraph in London reports.

Hayward, the newspaper notes, is said to have complained he was a "sacrificial lamb" for BP in the wake of the gulf disaster.

The former BP chief could face questioning, meanwhile, from U.S. investigators probing possible charges in the April 20, 2010, disaster that left 11 workers dead.

However, BP officials told the British newspaper there wasn't any pressure on Hayward.
