IRVINE, Calif., April 9 (UPI) -- Taco Bell Corp. has announced plans to test out out a delivery service in 2015.

The company's CEO Brian Niccol announced the measure as one of the ways in which the fast food chain attempts to "break out of the sea of sameness at breakfast." The taco chain also plans to expand its catering as part of this effort.

"I know a lot of people are talking about creating modern fast-food brands, and a lot are trying. But we're already on our way," he said. "We're continuing to move Taco Bell into its own category," Niccol told National Restaurant News last month.

Niccol's main goal is to turn Taco Bell into an "on-demand" brand. He said the company has delayed the roll out of some form delivery mechanism -- the chain's "No. 1 request from consumers" -- because they're waiting "to make sure we can give them an experience that's consistent with Taco Bell."

A beta delivery service is current being tested in Houston.

"It probably won't be everywhere this year, but, as we get near the back end, I wouldn't be surprised that this will go well beyond the handful of test markets," he said.

If the delivery feature is successful, Taco Bell would join fellow fast food chain Burger King, which offers a limited delivery service in the U.S. and the U.K.
