CUPERTINO, Calif., April 8 (UPI) -- Apple released its iOS 8.3 update which includes the much-anticipated racially diverse emojis and others depicting same-sex couples and families.

The new emojis include families with two mothers and two fathers and a variety of skin tones on the people emojis. Before the update, there was only one Asian man and one man in a turban to represent diversity.

Now if a user presses and holds the people emojis, they will be able to select a skin tone for the face. In previous versions, there were no black people represented in the emojis. Other nations' flags were also included.

Siri voice activation also supports and responds to more languages including English (India, New Zealand), Danish, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Swedish, Thai and Turkish. Some of the dictation languages that have been added are Arabic (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates) and Hebrew (Israel).

The other updates include fixes for Wi-Fi, messaging and CarPlay.
