AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 16 (UPI) -- Dodge is halting orders of the Hellcat versions of its Challenger and Charger vehicles because just too many people want one.

The automaker told Fox News it needs time to catch up on orders due to overwhelming demand.

"Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system," a company spokesperson said.

Dodge has received orders for twice as many vehicles as it planned to manufacture for the entire year. The shortage is causing some dealers to mark up Hellcats up to 50 percent.

AllParNews.com reported the assembly lines are expected start rolling again in August.
