OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Sue Ann Arnall, ex-wife of oil tycoon Harold Hamm, rejected a $975 million settlement check from their divorce, saying she was shortchanged.

Hamm originally called the settlement ruling for the near billion dollar payout "fair and equitable," but changed his mind in December when he called the ruling "erroneous." Hamm, however, paid the $975 million in the form of a check from his trust, which Arnall rejected Monday.

"Ms. Arnall, through her counsel, stated that they were rejecting the $974,790,317.77," Hamm's lawyer Michael Burrage confirmed Tuesday.

Arnall has already received two homes, a ranch and assets worth several million dollars. She stipulates she was shortchanged after 26-years of marriage and demanded several billion dollars. Accepting the check would have jeopardized her appeal, said her lawyer.

Hamm claims the $1 billion settlement is too high as he has recently lost billions due to the state of his company, Continental. The losses are attributed to the rapid fall of oil prices.
