WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Cybex International is recalling 234 free weight benches that can collapse, risking an injury to consumers, U.S. regulators said.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the free weight benches were designed for use in professional gyms. Under the model name Decline, they were sold in three styles numbered 16060, 16061 and 16062.
The Decline model is an Olympic-style bench that handles a seven foot wide Olympic bar.
The model numbers can be found on the bottom tube near the feet.
The company has received nine reports of benches showing signs of stress near weld points, but no reports involved injuries.
The benches were sold by Cybex International of Medway, Mass., from December 2008 through September 2013 for about $1,100.
Consumers were advised to stop using the benches and contact Cybex for instructions on how to inspect the frames and for installing a free repair, if needed.
