WASHINGTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- American Honda Motor Company is recalling 19,197 model year 2014 Acura MDX all wheel drive vehicles with drive shafts that could detach, U.S. regulators said.

The vehicles have bolt that attach the drive shafts to the automatic transmission transfer assemblies that may not have been tightened properly, the agency said.

The shafts could detach, increasing the risk of a crash.

Honda said it would inspect the vehicles and tighten the bolts, as needed, free of charge.
