NEW YORK, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Stocks closed higher on Wall Street Wednesday with the Dow Jones industrial average and the Standard & Poor's index both setting record closes.
The Dow added 70.96 points or 0.45 percent to 15,821.63 to set its 36th record this year.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index also hit an all-time closing peak, adding 14.31 points or 0.81 percent to 1,782.
The Nasdaq closed at 3,965.58, gaining 45.66 points, or 1.16 percent.
On the New York Stock Exchange, 2,109 stocks advanced and 966 declined on volume of 3.3 billion shares.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index shed 21.52 points, or 0.15 percent, to 14,567.16.
In London, the FTSE 100 gave up 96.79 points, or 1.44 percent, to close at 6,630.
On currency markets, the euro traded lower at $1.3491 and the dollar fell to 99.25 yen.
The price for a barrel of crude oil gained 57 cents to reach $93.68 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, the price of gold added $3.80 to hit $1,274.90 an ounce. Silver gave up 25.3 cents to hit $20.525.
Ten-year benchmark treasuries yielded 2.71 percent at the close of trading.
