WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. product safety regulators announced the voluntary recall of Eco-Novelty Jumbo Size and Jumbo Multipurpose beads that could cause serious health problems.
The colorful beads can easily be mistaken for candy by a small child. Once inside the body, however, the bead can expand up to the size of a racquetball, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.
About 3,500 toys are being recalled by importer Eco-Novelty Corp., of Troy, Mich., the commission said.
The toys were imported from China and sold from June 2011 through August 2013 for between $2 and $20.
They were sold in packages with printing that says "Colorful Water Balls. Just Add Water. Biodegradable. Non-toxic and Colorfast."
Consumers were advised to take the toys from children and contact Eco-Novelty for a full refund.
Consumers can call 231-222-4200 for information.
