Stile Products recalls folding bicycles

WASHINGTON, June 28 (UPI) -- U.S. regulators announced a voluntary recall of about 175 Stile Products Tern folding bicycles with frames that can crack, posing a hazard to riders.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the Lakewood, Calif., company had imported the bicycles from Taiwan. The bicycles were sold from January 2010 through May 2013 for $1,800 to $3,000 by authorized Style/Tern dealers.

The recall involves Eclipse S11i and Verge S11i X10, X20 and X30 models of Tern folding bicycles.

The Eclipse with 24-inch wheels was sold in silver and black. The Verge with 20-inch wheels was sold in a variety of colors, including silver with black, orange with white, red with black and yellow with gray.

Consumers were advised to stop riding the bicycles and contact Stile Products, or take their bicycles to an authorized dealership for a free frame, which will be installed at no cost.
