Omni Hotels and Resorts buys five vacation spots

IRVING, Texas, June 12 (UPI) -- Omni Hotels and Resorts said Wednesday it had purchased five resorts from KSL Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum.

With the deal, "Omni has significantly enhanced our growing resort collection in terms of scope, scale and prestige," Omni Hotels & Resorts President Mike Deitemeyer said.

In a statement, Omni said it would buy Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif, Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif, the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C., and The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.

Several of the resorts are nearing completion on renovation projects.

La Costa Resort and Spa, a 611-room resort recently underwent a $50 million renovation project.

Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa has 444 rooms and a water park that includes water slides, a lazy river and a sandy beach.

The Grove Park Inn is undergoing a $25 million restoration and renovation project that should be completed this summer, the company said.

The Homestead is also undergoing a renovation project, that is expected to cost $26 million and be done by the end of the year, Omni said in a statement.
