Oil slides below $90

NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices slid in New York Friday, dropping to less than $90 per barrel as budget negotiations stalled in Washington.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil for February delivery lost $1.47 to $89.18 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Home heating oil for January gave up 3.51 cents to $3.0224 a gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline was off 1.96 cents to $2.7347 a gallon.

Natural gas prices fell 3.45 cents to $3.45 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, AAA reported a national average price for regular unleaded gasoline hit $3.232 per gallon, up from Thursday's $3.219.
