NEW YORK, April 20 (UPI) -- Gold prices Friday turned modestly higher for the second consecutive trading day, rising 0.1 percent.
Gold added $1.30 on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange to reach $1,642.70 per troy ounce.

The dollar index dropped 0.53 percent Friday to 79.12. Silver headed south on the exchange, dropping 11 cents to $31.73.
The euro rose to $1.3224 from Thursday's $1.3137, while the British pound rose to $1.6136 from $1.6053.
Against the Japanese yen, the dollar fell to 81.52 yen from 81.59 yen. The dollar was 7.7607 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7629.
The Australian dollar rose to $1.0372 from $1.0331. Against the Canadian dollar, the greenback fell to 99.26 cents from 99.55.
