CBOT closes higher Friday

CHICAGO, March 2 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mostly higher Friday on the Chicago Board of trade, with corn, soybeans and wheat all showing gains for the week.

Corn was up 3/4 to up 6 1/2, soybeans up 10 to up 11 1/2, wheat up 10 to up 11 1/2 and oats up 3/4 to off 5 1/4.

Prices seesawed throughout the session before finishing strong. Corn made solid gains for the week despite strength in the dollar index and weakness in crude and gold futures as traders turned their attention to fundamentals. Soybeans made strong gains for the week thanks to strong demand by China and concerns over South American production. Wheat rallied on cash markets and posted moderate gains on short-covering, bolstered by corn and soybeans.

Corn: Mar 6.59 up 5 1/4, May 6.55 up 1, Jly 6.56 1/4 up 3/4, Sep 6.04 1/2 up 6 1/2.

Soybeans: Mar 13.28 1/4 up 11 1/2, May 13.33 up 10 1/2, Jly 13.40 1/4 up 10 3/4, Aug 13.30 1/2 up 10.

Wheat: 6.70 3/4 up 11 1/2, May 6.74 1/2 up 10 1/2, Jly 6.86 1/4 up 10 1/4, Sep 7.01 1/4 up 10.

Oats: Mar 3.28 up 3/4, May 3.05 3/4 off 3 1/2, Jly 3.04 3/4 off 3 1/2, Sep 3.08 off 5 1/4.
