Improvements Catalog recalls ottoman beds

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Improvements Catalog of Maple Heights, Ohio, is recalling 800 adjustable ottoman beds due to a fall hazard, regulators said.

When the ottoman is converted into a bed and weight is put on it, it can collapse, posing a fall hazard to the user, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

The recalled ottoman is on casters with a folding metal frame and a high-density polyfoam mattress. The ottoman can open out and be converted into a twin-sized bed.

They were sold through Improvements and Skymall catalogs from May to August for between $150 and $190 apiece.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled furniture and contact Improvements to receive a store credit for the full amount of the purchase price.

Consumers can call 800-985-6044 for information.
