75,000 motion sensor switches recalled

WASHINGTON, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of 75,000 motion sensing wall switches due to a shock hazard.

The Heath/Zenith and WirelessCommand switches made by HeathCo LLC of Bowling Green, Ky., allow a small amount of current to leak through when the switch is in the auto mode and the light is off, the commission said in a statement.

If consumers fail to disconnect the power at the circuit breaker, there is a risk of an electric shock that can be felt while replacing the bulbs.

The recall involves Heath/Zenith and WirelessCommand motion sensing wall switches that come in white or ivory. They were sold nationwide from August 2007 through August 2011 for between $20 and $25.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled wall switches and contact the company for a free replacement.

Consumer can call 855-704-5438 for information.
