Fake iTunes e-mail contains virus

BERLIN, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- An e-mail that looks like it originated from Apple's iTunes store includes a virus that can steal personal information, sources told The Daily Telegraph.

The e-mail, timed to originate during the Black Friday shopping event, entices readers to open an attachment with the promise of $50 in credit at the iTunes store.

But the attachment consumers open, a file called Mal/BredoZp-B, contains a virus that can steal passwords, obscure files and slow down computer processing, the newspaper said.

The virus can be removed by antivirus software. But it could also be harming the computer until it is fully extricated.
