Meijer Roman shades recalled

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. regulators said retailer Meijer of Grand Rapids, Mich., is recalling 3,200 Roman shades and roll-up window blinds due to a strangulation hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said "Innovations" and "At Home with Meijer" window shades and blinds were involved in the recall.

The recall is an expansion of one issued in March 2010.

The watchdog agency warned the pull cords and lifting loops for the products pose a strangulation hazard.

The recall involves shades and blinds sold nationwide from March 2010 through September 2011 for "various prices," the commission said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled blinds and shades and contact Meijer for a refund.

Consumers can call 800-927-8699 for information.
