Target expands booster seat recall

WASHINGTON, June 17 (UPI) -- Retail giant Target is expanding a recall of child booster seats that pose a fall hazard due to restraint buckles opening, U.S. regulators said.

The recall was first issued in August 2009 involving 43,000 booster seats.

Target, based in Minneapolis, Minn., is now recalling all of the Circo Booster Seats, 375,000 of them, that were made in China and sold at Target stores from January 2005 through June 2009 for about $13.

The restraint buckles can unexpectedly fail on the Circo Booster Seats, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

Consumers were advised to stop using the booster seats and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Consumers can call 800-440-0680 for information.
