Taser company offering new stun gun

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 20 (UPI) -- Taser International Inc. introduced a new stun gun Wednesday with second-shot capability, a company press release said.

The Taser X2, described on the company's Web site as "designed by Law Enforcement for Law Enforcement," was created with the repeat capability "because sometimes you need a second chance."

The company's product is said to be water resistant, lightweight and can hit more than one target with a safety feature dissipating the charge closer to the outer layers of the skin "away from vital organs."

"The X2 is the culmination of more than six years of intense research and development and offers exponentially increased capabilities, including vastly enhanced data, as well as enhanced safety features with its second-shot capability and dual lasers," The Arizona Republic reported Rick Smith, Taser chief executive officer and founder, said in a statement.

There is also a Taser X3 model for what the company calls "the management of human-animal conflicts."

The Taser X2 model is 31 percent smaller than the X3, which has a three-shot capability. Taser International says the weapons will begin shipping during the second quarter, the Republic reported.
