Page puts stamp on Google management

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 8 (UPI) -- U.S. Internet giant Google Inc. said returning Chief Executive Officer Larry Page took little time reorganizing the company's management -- four days.

Page, a co-founder of the company, took over CEO duties from Eric Schmidt Monday. Within days, he had a new management team announced, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

A company spokesman said there were now six new senior vice presidents. Andy Rubin is in charge of mobile, Vic Gundotra in charge of social, Sundar Pichai in charge of Chrome, Salar Kamangar managing YouTube and video, Alan Eustace in charge of search and Susan Wojcicki managing advertising, the Times said.

Schmidt has taken a new position as executive chairman.

A source said the company was looking for accountability by placing managers directly under Page.

The company also is looking for aggressive innovation.

"The idea is to empower people, let them take risks and give them more authority over decisions," a source close to Google who requested anonymity told the Times.
