Toyota recalls 1.7 million vehicles

TOKYO, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Toyota Motor Corp. will recall 1.7 million vehicles worldwide due to faulty parts, including defective fuel devices, the Japanese automaker said Wednesday.

The recall includes 1.28 million vehicles in Japan that may leak oil or have a defect in the carrier for the spare tire, and 421,000 vehicles in North America, Europe and other markets, the company said.

No injuries or accidents were reported related to the faulty parts, Toyota said.

The recall includes Voxy, Noah and Isis minivans as well as RAV4 sport utility vehicle, Toyota said in a statement.

Toyota said it would recall of 245,000 Lexus luxury cars in the United States to inspect the fuel-pressure sensor installation.

Toyota's reputation for safety and quality was hurt by recalls of more than 8 million cars worldwide in 2009 and 2010 due to unintended acceleration a $16.4 million fine in the United States.
