BabyLegs recalls socks, leg warmers

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Seattle firm BabyUnited, doing business as BabyLegs, is recalling 4,500 leg warmers and socks because of an applique that can detach, safety regulators said.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the company received one report of an infant choking on a heart-shaped applique that had come loose.

The infant avoided any harm after the mother intervened, the commission said in a statement.

The recall involves BabyLegs brand leg warmers and socks of various lengths. They were sold in pink, white and purple.

Consumers were advised to take the recalled socks and leg warmers from children and remove and discard the applique. Consumers can also contact BabyLegs for a full refund.

The recalled products were imported form China and sold from August 2010 to November 2010 for about $11 per pair.

Consumers can call 888-791-6098 for information.
