WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Brumlow Mills rugs sold at J.C. Penney Co. due to a fire hazard.

About 1,000 rugs manufactured by Brumlow Mills of Calhoun, Ga., were sold from January 2010 through March 2010 for between $40 and $400.

The "Zen design" polypropylene rugs fail to meet federal safety standards for flammability, the commission said in a statement.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled rugs and contact Brumlow Mills for a free replacement or a refund.

Consumers can call 877-879-0176 for information.
