DETROIT, June 8 (UPI) -- U.S. automaker General Motors Co. said Tuesday it was recalling 1.3 million vehicles due to a possibility of electrical system fires.
The problem originates in a heating system for washer fluids, GM said.
A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notice says simply, "It is possible for the heated washer module to ignite and a fire may occur."
The earliest model year among the affected vehicles is 2006.
The recalled models include on the GM Web site are: the 2006-2009 model year Buick Lucerne; Cadillac DTS; Hummer H2; 2008-2009 model year Buick Enclave; Cadillac CTS; 2007-2009 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT; Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe; GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL; Saturn Outlook; and 2009 model year Chevrolet Traverse.
The notice instructs dealers to disconnect and remove the heated washer fluid module.
