SAN JOSE, Calif., June 7 (UPI) -- Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs Monday introduced the iPhone 4, the newest iteration of the Cupertino, Calif., company's multimedia smartphone.

Jobs unveiled the product at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif., describing it as "beyond a doubt, the most precise thing and one of the most beautiful things we've ever made," Macworld reported.

The company said the iPhone 4 features new camera configurations and volume control buttons, as well as a mute button and a second microphone for noise cancellation, Macworld said. It also features a micro-SIM tray, like the iPad has.

Apple said the visual display is more precise, owing to a new screen technology, the report said. The new item's display is 3.5 inches diagonally, the same as the previous model, but it has four times as many pixels.

It is free of arsenic and mercury and is made from recyclable materials, Macworld reported.

The company said the price for the iPhone 4 would start at $199.
