LELE & Co. sweatshirts recalled

WASHINGTON, March 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of LELE & Co. hooded sweatshirts due to a strangulation hazard.

About 2,700 sweatshirt sets were imported from Vietnam by LELE & Company Inc. of Los Angeles, Calif., and sold in California, Georgia, Illinois and Florida under brand names "Maria Elena" and "Eddie" between August 2008 and August 2009 for between $6.50 and $9 each.

The sweatshirts include a drawstring that poses a hazard for children, the commission said in a statement.

The garments were sold in sizes 8 through 14 and include stitching on the front that says "Prince," Princess," or "Champion."

Consumers were advised to remove the drawstring or return the product to the retail outlet for a refund.

Consumers can call 213-745-8979 for information.
