NEW YORK, March 2 (UPI) -- French purse maker Louis Vuitton is suing Hyundai Motor Co. for use of its logo in a television commercial, court papers show.
The company claims its logo is "famous and incontestable" and was used without permission.
The ad, which was aired during Super Bowl XLIV, was a montage that showed a series of images comparing a luxury lifestyle to a modest lifestyle. Scenes included working-class people eating lobster and policemen eating caviar.
The Louis Vuitton logo appeared only briefly in the ad on a basketball, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
Neither Hyundai nor Louis Vuitton replied to requests for comments, the News said.
Court papers say Hyundai could have used a generic image to depict luxury, rather than LV's logo.
