Adobe Flash to move into living rooms

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20 (UPI) -- U.S. technology giant Adobe said Monday its online Flash technology would be integrated into devices for television sets.

The move to put Flash into living room entertainment systems will allow customers to view videos associated with computers on television sets that are linked to the Internet, TG Daily reported Monday.

Original equipment manufacturers, cable companies and content providers such as Atlantic Records, Disney Interactive Media Group and The New York Times Co., all announced they would support Flash video technology today, the report said.

Adobe said viewers would be able to watch high definition Web videos on their televisions without the need for a Web browser.

"Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home will dramatically change the way we view content on televisions," said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president of Adobe's Platform Business Unit.

"Consumers are looking to access their favorite Flash technology-based videos, applications, services and other rich Web content across screens," he said.
