TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A weekend strike at Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport has stranded hundreds of Europe-bound travelers without warning, disgruntled passengers say.
Attendants who handle ground-handling and ticketing services at the Tel Aviv airport began striking against the private firm Aerohandling at 3 a.m. Saturday, Ynetnews.com reported, leaving passengers stranded with little information.
"We arrived at the airport at 3:30 a.m. and then they told us that the Aerohandling ground attendants launched a strike," one traveler identified only as Barak told the Web site. "Since then, people have been sitting on the floor, on the conveyor belts and in every possible place. No one has come to tell us when this nightmare is going to end."
An Israel Airports Authority spokesperson said the dispute is between Aerohandling and its employees.
"The IAA provides an operational platform and is not a commercial or consumer entity opposite the traveling public," it said in a statement. "This is an internal incident between the company and its workers. We hope that the delays are solved soon."
