GM Provoq-atively green at CES

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Luxury cars may have an eco-friendly option, as the Cadillac Provoq debuted at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show as the new zero-emissions concept car.

The vehicle runs on a combination of fuel-cell technology and lithium batteries and is built on the same chassis as the Volt -- General Motor Corp.'s other low-emissions vehicle the company is working to get to market, MarketWatch reported Wednesday

"At its core, Cadillac is all about luxury," Rick Wagoner, GM chief executive, said during his keynote address at the Las Vegas expo. "So it is fitting that our premium brand would be propelled by our most advanced technology."

The model displayed at the CES can travel about 300 miles before re-fueling and has a top speed of 100 mph. It can go from zero to 60 mph in about 8.5 seconds, GM said.

Wagoner's appearance marks the first time a high-ranking auto industry executive addressed the annual gathering of consumer electronics makers, MarketWatch said.
