Ben & Jerry's recalls ice cream

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt., March 16 (UPI) -- U.S. ice cream maker Ben & Jerry's is recalling 250,000 pints of Country Peach Cobbler ice cream because it contains wheat not listed among the ingredients.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of a temporary health problem or illness if they eat the ice cream, the company said late Friday.

No illnesses have been reported, it said.

The ice cream was distributed across the United States and sold through retail stores, Ben & Jerry's said.

The company advised consumers who bought the ice cream with Jan. 23, Jan. 24, Feb. 8 or Feb. 9, 2008, printed on the bottom to discard the containers, the company said.

Ben & Jerry's said it will fully refund customers who send the base of an empty container back to the company at Consumer Response Department, Country Peach Cobbler Refund, 30 Community Drive, South Burlington, Vt. 05403.

Customers with questions may call 877-995-4716.
