Intel will test cheap laptop in Brazil

SAO PAULO, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Brazil will be the testing ground for a new laptop computer from Intel, which said it hopes a $400 price tag will make computing more affordable.

Intel is donating between 700-800 of the cheap laptops to the Brazilian government for distribution to schools next year, Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reported Wednesday.

The Intel model reportedly will have wireless Internet capabilities, though wireless Internet use it still not widely available in Brazil, and a relatively small 7-inch screen.

Last month Brazil was selected as the testing ground for another laptop costing $150.
