Passengers unhappy with British Airways

LONDON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Some passengers still stranded Sunday at Heathrow International Airport in London after a wildcat strike by British Airways plan to sue.

Many passengers called the actions of British Airways "disgraceful" after baggage handlers in support of fired catering colleagues stranded some 70,000 travelers, reported the Sunday Telegraph.

Some passengers said the British Airways helpline closed down at midnight, and others said they waited in line for 15 hours only to be told the line had closed.

Airport officials said although flights had been running smoothly following the strike, some 30,000 bags of luggage had become mismatched with their owners and that had slowed things down.

British Airways issued a statement.

"We're doing what we can to get customers where they want to go," said marketing director Martin George.

"The individuals ... who are not flying on a service that is operating today are being dealt with on an individual basis, we're working very hard on an individual basis to rebook them at a later time or on another airline, or offer them a refund."
