BOSTON, May 11 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts state subpoena of Gillette Co. records relating to its proposed purchase by Procter & Gamble Co. could be largely unsatisfied.
Gillette told a state court that its executives may already have deleted relevant e-mails requested by Secretary of State William F. Galvin, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday.
Gillette, which also said senior company officials were under no legal obligation to save e-mails during the period in which the proposed merger was being discussed, said its "review of e-mail during the period shows that it has produced all e-mails it can reasonably identify that are responsive" to Galvin's subpoena.
Galvin said Gillette's claim that it can't find the sought e-mails is the equivalent of the company using a "dog ate my homework" excuse.
