SINGAPORE, March 11 (UPI) -- A ministerial statement on whether Singapore will proceed with a casino proposal will be made in Parliament on April 18, Channel NewsAsia reported Friday.
The date was revealed by Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan, during his ministry's budget debate.

Earlier this week another minister had told the house that while public feedback would be taken into account, at the end of the day the Cabinet would make the decision.
There has been strong public opposition to the opening of a casino, with members of the public worrying it will increase vices and gambling addiction.
