Survey reveals China's richest

BEIJING, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- China's three richest people are each worth more than $1 billion, EuromoneyChina reports.

Huang Guangyu topped the list with a personal net worth of $1.3 billion. The 35 year-old founded Guomei (GoMe) Appliances, China's largest electronics retailer.

Last year's richest Chinese, Ding Lei of NetEase.com, slipped to seventh on the list.

The second richest person is Chen Tianqiao, 31, whose company, Shanda, is a multimedia entertainment operation strong in online gaming. Chen is worth $1.05 billion.

Third on the list is "Larry" Rong Zhijian, 62, with a fortune of $1 billion. He is a scion of the Shanghai tycoon Rong Yiren, a wealthy industrialist who opted to stay in China after the Communist takeover in 1949.

This was the sixth annual list of China's richest compiled by Rupert Hoogewerf, a researcher based in Shanghai.

The total worth of the 100 richest Chinese has grown to $50.7 billion, with most making fortunes in property.
