WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Transportation Stabilization Board appointed Mark Dayton as its executive director Wednesday.
Dayton is currently assistant inspector-general for competition and economic analysis at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he has been since 1997.

ASTB -- chaired by Federal Reserve Governor Edward Gramlich - was made responsible for coordinating the channeling of government funds to ailing airlines following the September 2001 terrorist attacks.
The board's current executive director, Michael Kestenbaum, has resigned to pursue a MBA at the University of Pennsylvania.
