BRASILIA, Brazil, April 8 (UPI) -- Brazil's president appealed to a higher power Thursday to help solve the nation's unemployment problem.
Following a service celebrating Easter week, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva told reporters he asked God to especially help the jobless this holiday season.

"I asked God to help the Brazilian people ... above all those that are unemployed," said Lula.
According to a recent survey, joblessness stands at 12 percent among Brazil's 175 million people.
