Nikolai Platonovich Patrushev (Russian: Никола́й Плато́нович Па́трушев) (born July 11, 1951) is a former Director of the Russian FSB, the successor organization to the KGB, and the current secretary of the Security Council of Russia. He was born in Leningrad and graduated from Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute in 1974, where he worked as an engineer at his department.

In 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad Ship-building Institute (now the State Marine Technical University of St.Petersburg); worked as an engineer.

He joined the KGB in 1975.
