WASHINGTON, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Hillary Clinton's still-unconfirmed 2016 presidential campaign has renewed discussion, in some circles, of her husband's mid-1990s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul called Bill Clinton a "sexual predator" earlier this month and said Democrats should consider returning money raised by the former president.

David Gregory pressed the issue with fellow conservative Mitt Romney during the latter's appearance on Sunday's Meet the Press. Romney said Hillary "has her own vision" to worry about.

"I don't think Bill Clinton is as relevant as Hillary Clinton if Hillary Clinton decides to run for president," Romney said.

The former Republican presidential candidate said that Hillary has her own record to defend.

"In her case, I think people will look at her record as secretary of state," he added. "I think Hillary Clinton, if she becomes the nominee, will have plenty to discuss about her own record. I don't imagine that Bill Clinton is going to be a big part of it."

But Romney did criticize Bill Clinton's behavior.

"On the other hand, he embarrassed the nation. He breached his responsibility as an adult, as a leader," Romney said. "But I don't think that's Hillary Clinton's to explain."
