Kanye West's 'Nike Air Yeezy 2' sneakers fetch high prices on eBay after speedy sellout

Kanye West's sneaker design sold out within minutes on Sunday.

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Kanye West severed ties with Nike last year after the 36-year-old rapper said the brand refused to pay him royalties. But his final collaboration with the company, Air Yeezy 2 sneakers known as Red Octobers, proved to be a hot commodity for shoe collectors when Nike suddenly put them on sale.

The pricey sneakers, which retailed for $245, sold in a matter of minutes after Nike made them available on Sunday afternoon.

They immediately started showing up on auction sites like eBay, where his shoes are going for thousands of dollars.
