WICKENBURG, Ariz., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez has been keeping a secret from her beloved fans.

Two months after the Texas native canceled the Australian leg of her Star Dance tour to take some much-needed "me" time, Radar Online has unveiled that the 21-year-old "Come and Get It" crooner spent two weeks in an Arizona rehab facility in January to deal with emotional issues.

“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” a rep for Gomez confirmed.

Dawn at The Meadows is located in Wickenburg, AZ, and specializes in patients 18 to 26 years old who are struggling with emotional trauma, addiction or dual diagnosis concerns.

Sources close to Justin Bieber's ex claim that Gomez had been "partying very hard" before her rehab stint.

“Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena,” said another source. "Particularly, her parents. The partying was, at times, wild. They wanted to help her -- and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help.”

Another insider revealed that the singer had been experimenting with marijuana and prescription drugs, including Xanax and Ambien, before entering the facility on Jan. 5. The singer's relationship with drugs reportedly began when she was still with the "Boyfriend" singer, as the two would "smoke marijuana together regularly.”

"It just got to a point where she needed to get out of Los Angeles, get away from ‘the scene’ and the pressures of Hollywood, to also get away from those who had, admittedly, become a bad influence on her," a source said of her time at The Meadows.

When canceling the remainder of her tour back in December, Gomez told her fans she needed to "spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."
