NEW YORK, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- New York's LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C was evacuated late Tuesday morning after a a smoking package was spotted while being loaded onto a plane.

Port Authority officials cleared the terminal as a precaution after a worker reported a smoking package on a luggage ramp. The handler reportedly said the baggage seemed warm.

The package never made it onto the plane, a Delta aircraft which was headed to Richmond, Va., and the plane was brought back to the gate for evacuation. The plane was then moved to a remote location.

Employees were allowed back into the building around 12:30, with passengers expected to follow.
