EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The coin toss to kick off the Super Bowl failed on the first attempt causing football legend, Joe Namath, to give it a second try. Joe Namath, former Jets player and MVP for Super Bowl III, was the honorary coin toss guest at the Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday night and he had a rough attempt.

On the first try, he tosses it into the air before a team can call heads or tails and the referee steps in and catches it before it hits the ground. The Seattle Seahawks calls tails and win the coin toss after a second attempt.
