EAST RUTHERFORD, Calif., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Joe Namath may have messed up the Super Bowl coin toss, but he more than made up for it in swagger.

The 70-year-old Hall of Famer showed up to MetLife Stadium on Sunday night wearing a fabulous mink fur coat that immediately drew comparisons to the famed "Ikea Monkey" of 2012.

Some people were fans: Though People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) obviously did not approve:

As the Hollywood Reporter points out, Namath has rocked this coat before. The former New York Jets quarterback wore fur frequently to games in the 1970s, prompting the NFL to prohibit off-brand apparel on the sidelines.

Namath's fashion statement might have distracted him from his official Super Bowl duties. He accidentally flipped the coin before the Seattle Seahawks could call heads or tails.
