NFL: Concussions among players down 13 percent

NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The NFL says that concussions among players decreased 13 percent in games and practices, and helmet-to-helmet concussions are down 23 percent.

Jeff Miller, Senior Vice President of Health and Safety Policy, said during a pre-Super Bowl press conference that the data showed "positive trends."

Some in the league are concerned that the focus on avoiding direct hits to the head will result to hits in other areas, causing knee injuries.

Superbowl XLVIII will be played by the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos in New Jersey on Feb. 2.
