Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Prince Harry is nearing the end of his 200-mile trek to the South Pole, part of an effort to raise money and awareness for Walking With The Wounded, an organization that supports injured veterans.

“Another 11 km to go, to setup camp," the 29-year-old prince told reporters on Wednesday. "One more full day tomorrow and a half day on Friday and we’re going to the South Pole -- on Friday the 13th. Unlucky for some, lucky for us.”

Though inclement weather forced the three racing teams to band together and finish the trek as one group, Harry described conditions as "not too bad."

"Wind has dropped now, which is quite nice. And everyone is feeling a bit tired, but we’re slowly getting into the rhythm. We got into the rhythm and it’s almost finished," he said.

Harry grew a much-discussed ginger beard for his walk through sub-zero conditions. Actors Dominic West and Alexander Skarsgard are also on the expedition.
